While perusing the latest Texas industry news - one can never get enough of good news - I came upon this article on ABC News.com and was fascinated to read that some people keep track of oil drilling statistics much in the way some folks keep track of sports stores.

Last month, it looks like Texas gained a half dozen oil rigs!  Drill baby drill!

It's very obvious to many, myself included, the petrochemical industry is a big job creator and economic engine for the state of Texas. Having grown up nearby in another state that is a sensually ruled by the petroleum producers.  I say that with no malice in my voice whatsoever. I know how many jobs were created and families were fed by the industry that powers American transportation. I get angry when I hear politicians on the left top about choking to death industries like coal and oil.  Don't they understand what makes America run? Don't they understand the impact this will have on so many families? I daresay it's this kind of callous attitude that made so many people angry in the run-up to this recent election.

At the same time, I look at the devastation oil spills have made on marine life, our coastline, and nature in the Gulf South. Let's all work together to find a way to get what we need out of the ground without poisoning the shellfish and seafood people love to eat in America.
