It was her party/And she cried if she wanted too/You would cry too/If it happened to you/That whole having a giant hit thing...

A sad note today, sixties singer/perky pixie Lesley Gore, an act with a sound inseparable from that decade,  passed away at the age of 68 from lung cancer.

She sang at the 1964 T.A.M.I. Show in Santa Monica, California, alongside future Rock and Roll Hall of Famers James Brown and the Rolling Stones. Gore also played Catwoman's sidekick in the cult TV comedy "Batman" as seen above.

She was known for such hits as hits "Judy's Turn to Cry," and the "You Don't Own Me" and of course her first hit, at the age of sixteen, "It's My Party."

She is survived by her partner of 33 years, Lois Sasson.
