It was on this day in 1968 that Gold was rewarded to the smack down song of the decade.  "Harper Valley PTA" by Jeannie C. Riely.

A few years later in 1971 the Bee Gees got Gold for "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart".

It was 1982 and John Cougar hit it big with the Album "American Fool".  It included the hit "Jack & Diane" and "Hurts So Good"
