Hey Gang,

Big Q here with your Gold report.  Today's report features a song that was meant to be served with Meatloaf,  but was sent back to the kitchen.

It's the 80's super hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler.  It went Gold on this day in 1983.  But the beginning of the song is the most interesting.  It was written by Jim Steinman, famous for his collaboration with Meatloaf.  According to Meatloaf, Jim wrote "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "Making Love Out of Nothing At All" for his "Midnight at the Lost and Found" LP, but the record company refused to pay for Jim Steinman, so Jim gave the songs to other people.

Bonnie Tyler took her song to Number one, and Air Supply took their song to number Two. The only thing holding it out of the number one spot...Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart".  As for Meatloaf, he slipped into oblivion until he teamed up with Jim again.
