Copperas Cove scored six times in its home opener against Waco, needing only 13 plays to produce five of its touchdowns, in a 43-7 dominating win at Bulldawg Stadium.

While the quick-strike offense kept the crowd entertained, Copperas Cove head coach Jack Welch was most impressed with his team’s 16-play, 93-yard scoring drive in the second quarter.

“Fast plays and big plays, that all looks exciting for the media and for your fans, but (long, methodical drives) is how (you create) momentum and wear your opponent out,” he said. “Then, it opens up all kinds of things.”
