Lionel is looking into the eighties and is ready to own all of it. Yes. he was done with the all funky stuff he'd done with the Commodores and ready to ladle his syrupy take on R and B all over the charts. Pop, R And B, even creeping into the country charts piggybacking on Kenny Rogers' shoulder. Lionel was ready. His expression on the cover of his solo debut say's a man with his collar this far outside of his green sweater is ready for anything. Today's tune followed the worldwide thermonuclear adult comtempo/R & B/Everything Else hit "Truly" into the charts and, oddly enough, was co-written by his then wife and future marital pugilist Brenda. Also, according to it's Wiki entry, the song has on background vocals Richard Marx, Kenny Rogers and, oddly, tennis pro Jimmy Conners, although that may be a goof on Wiki's part, but for purposes of padding out this paragraph, we'll go with it.
