Your Tuesday K-101.7 SONG OF THE DAAAAY!

La-La-La-La-La-Bamba.  One hit wonder time again. Actually, calling today's band a "one hit wonder", though chart correct, kinda burns me up a little. One of THE greatest American rock bands EVER, a scrappy gang of guys who fought, bled and played their callused fingers off over the course of some nearly forty years in existence, who melded rock, punk, soul and the various strains of their native Hispanic heritage into a heady, earthy sometimes even psychedelic stew that both celebrated the past and pushed music forward (Kiko)...to call these guys "one hit wonders" makes me wanna go outside and kick a hole in the wall.

Ahem, so let us now turn our heads back to 1986, when the nation said, as one, hey, that little band from east L.A. sure can play...
