They say money changes people, but I've never had all that much so I'd noticed the change in myself and, having made my way to the lower bottom of the radio ladder, I have never been around people with enough money to change them substantially, as well. I mean, maybe the management class, perhaps, had their money related interests, like white shirts and wine parties with other of their suit and tie ilk, but I was never invited to any of those parties. They'd probably just wonder who invited the bald hobo, so it's just as well. My kids are oddly obsessed with money, and when given some they blow through like it was made of magician's flash paper, so they're probably gonna be like me and remain poor for the rest of their lives, barring a miracle or really excellent rowing scholarship program of some sort.

Uh, where was I?

You probably know this tune from every movie, t.v. show and commercial where the subject of someone wanting some or swimming in money comes up. It almost as ubiquitous as "Bad To The Bone" or that cartoon music denoting a circus. Or whatever. It hit number nine in the spring of 1974 and was nominated for the 1975 Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance - Duo, Group or Chorus, losing to "Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus. Also a great song.

And despite nearly four decades of play, that opening echoing bass line still grabs you by the ears, and gets your head to nodding.

"MONEY MONEY MONEY!"

-is your K-101.7 Song Of The Day!

P.S: Did you know Eddie MONEY sang on a Kenny Loggins song and never got credit and that Eddie MONEY wants to deck our boy Kenny? Check out the details HERE!
