According to Reuters, Federal authorities have arrested and accused three U.S. postal workers of mail fraud and conspiracy charges.

Terry Jackson, 22, Mahogany Strickland, 23, and Nickyeves Saintalbord, 28, worked on

accused of relabeling gifts for children with their own addresses

the U.S. Postal Service's "Operation Santa" program in 2013. This program had underprivileged children write letters to Santa asking for gifts. The U.S. Postal Service would post selected letters for “adoption”. The person who adopted the "letter" would then buy that kid a gift.

According to U.S. authorities, Jackson, Strickland and Saintalbord wrote their own letters to Santa, and, using their position, made sure their letters were the ones posted for adoption.

Acording to the complaint filed, all three workers admitted to agents with the U.S. Postal Service’s Office of the Inspector General to writing multiple letters.

Strickland and Saintalbord were also accused of relabeling gifts for children with their own addresses, and redirecting packages to their homes. Because of this they also face a count of receiving stolen mail.

Alleged congratulations to all three for making Ebenezer Scrooge look like a nice guy at the beginning of  “A Christmas Carol”
