KPD Wants Community to be Aware While Playing Pokemon GO

Following a similar warning from colleagues in Belton, authorities in Killeen have issued their own advisory regarding Pokemon and safety in the Killeen area:

Killeen Police Department would like to bring awareness to our community about their personal safety as well as the safety of others when playing Pokemon GO on your smart phones. Our department has received an increase of suspicious person calls due to unknown people going into yards without permission and suspicious vehicle calls because people are driving slowly through neighborhoods.

We ask that you keep the following things in mind while playing:

Be mindful of time of day and area, in which you are playing, all Killeen City parks are closed from 11:00pm until 5:00am.

Make sure you are not trespassing on anyone’s property, especially during night time hours.

Never drive distracted, distracted driving causes accidents.

Be alert and aware of your surroundings. If you are busy looking at your phone you are not paying attention to what is going on around you.
