Well, the movie Gods that be, having washed their hands of the movie junk and filler of the pre-fall burial ground, are about to wade lens cap deep into the prestige Holiday movie season and pretend things going boom and Mahk Whalberg as an engineer never happened...for a few months anyway. Family films, grown-up movies and award craving performances are preparing to wash over us. Here are five headed your way. Please to enjoy.

Kinda sorta got all kindsa het up when I saw this trailer a few months back. Angelina Jolie tells the true life story of Louis Zamperini, a high school track star who raced in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, joined the air force, got shot down, survived without food and water for 47 days, enduring shark attacks and hunger before taken as a prisoner by Japanese forces during World War II. Who among us could possibly be this tough, this resilient? The film looks really moving and the IMDB entry says it was written by...Joel and Ethan Cohen? Hello, interest piqued. The film opens on Christmas.

And you can read all about the real life story HERE.

Remember when we was kids and every Easter they would haul out what seemed like nine and a half hours of Charlton Heston in a luscious beard and Yul Brynner in those kicky Egyptian shorts and ate up Sunday night television viewing with The Ten Commandments? Well, Ridley "Pretty Pictures Can Cover Up A Bad Script If I Try Hard Enough" Scott is dragging the out of fashion big Biblical epic into 2014, sandals kicking, with his new film Moses Kick Your Ass!

(Sorry. we got the film reels mixed up. Stand by.)

Uh, I don't know which one is better, actually.

Okay, enough of the heavy and the pretentious, let's lighten up with something that looks like The Big Lebowski with a graduate degree and better drugs. Nickey Wolfman has vanished and Joaquin Phoenix as Doc is blearily pulled this way and that, pinballing around in an alternate world Los Angelas where everything is garish and there's a kooky character around every bend in the story. Directed by that one guy from that book by that other fella, starts with a P.

And that will be unleashed December 12th. can't wait, man.

And for the kids? Disney is riding to the rescue November 7th with this one, of which your child already knows all about. It's an action comedy adventure family occupier about a boy, Hiro Hamada in the city of San Fransokyo and his robot Baymax. Much laughter and 3D hi jinx will ensue.

And last on our list of five, we come across this sweet baby. Mad Max: Fury Road.

Yeah, it doesn't come out till next summer but oh holy pants, daddy want. DADDY WANT.

Ahem. I apologize.

There you go, a list of five movie spectacles gracing your neighborhood screens quite soon. It does look like some good times are just ahead. I hope. So, treat yourself, get out of the house and, as my friend Tan says,  go see a movie. And tell them K-101.7 sent you. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
