Big Q Tip – Right on Red Is Not Against the Law

Yesterday I was in Temple Mall parking lot trying to get out onto 31st Street and head north.  I got caught behind a Mercedes.  This is a bad thing.  Either you're going to face an "arrogance",  an "age issue", or both.  I got the age issue.  I guess "back in day" it was slight to God to take a right on red.  Then Ponch pulled up next to us and I knew I was sitting for the whole light.

§ 544.007. TRAFFIC-CONTROL SIGNALS IN GENERAL. . After stopping, standing until the intersection may be entered safely, and yielding right-of-way to pedestrians lawfully in an adjacent crosswalk and other traffic lawfully using the intersection, the operator may: (1) turn right; or (2) turn left, if the intersecting streets are both one-way streets and a left turn is permissible.

Right on Red is O.K. people.  And sometimes Left on Red, even if a policeman is stopped next to you. Just remember to enter into the closest lane to you.
