It was on this day in 1980 that we lost a great rock voice.

The first time I heard AC/DC I was babysitting our neighbors kid.  They had a pool table so it wasn't too bad. This little kid said he wanted to listen to his AC/DC tape.  I had never heard of them but I could read, so I put it in.  I was hooked within the first few seconds.  I didn't realize until my freshman year in college that I was listening to a dead man.

The path of AC/DC was forever altered on February 19th, 1980.  Bon Scott was found dead in London.

Bon had met with Angus & Malcom Young to work on some music for their next album. Afterward he went out drinking with a friend, who later told police Bon was sleeping off the drunk in a car.  The cause of death was listed as "acute alcohol poisoning" and classified as "death by misadventure", but there have been plenty of conspiracy theories on his death.

AC/DC was coming off the "Highway to Hell" LP, and were poised to become one of the biggest bands in the world.  They ended up hiring Brian Johnson as their new lead singer.  It was Brian that added the lyrics to the songs that Bon and the boys were working on the night he died.  The songs, "Have a Drink On Me" and "Let Me Put My Love Into You", would be featured on "Back in Black".
