I don’t see many Homeless people living on the streets in Killeen.   I have seen them pushing shopping carts near Lions Park and the Big Box stores.  I don’t really pay attention. I don’t really look at them to see who they are.

I should since I don’t see the homeless that often.  I know they live in Temple and Killeen because we open up the Warming Shelters when it gets cold.

Think how it is in the big cities everyday, where residents see the homeless lying down or sitting on city streets surrounded by their belongings.

The New York City Rescue Mission decided to try an experiment to see just how invisible the homeless have become.  Unsuspecting people walked by relatives who are made up to be homeless. Would they notice their family members?

I cannot judge because I probably wouldn't recognize my relatives either.  You don't expect to see them on the streets.

But it also makes you realize the Homeless are real people who may have families out there somewhere. Maybe we should be paying attention.
