9 year old Kamryn Renfro, of Grand Junction has a friend with cancer.  Kamryn shaved her head to help that friend, Delaney Clements, get through chemotherapy.   That act of compassion got Kamryn kicked out of Caprock Academy.

Kamryn's friend Delaney who's 11, has been battling cancer for years.  Chemotherapy made her hair fall out, and Delaney says sometimes her bald head made her stand out.

That is why Kamryn decided to shave her hair off,  "I did it so she didn't have to feel left out," Kamryn said.

On Monday Kamryn went to school with her newly shaved head and was not allowed in class, because her shaved head violates school policy.   The school trustees said her bald head would be a distraction.  In fact bald heads are against the school dress code.

Kamryn's mother says she emailed school officials explaining why the 9-year-old shaved her head, but was told Kamryn could not come back to school.

That lasted one day.

After all the publicity the school board relented and voted to let Kamryn back in school.  The vote was 3-1.  ( I wonder who that one was).  The school rules do allow exceptions to the Dress Code Policy, for now Kamryn is an exception.

Kamryn's mom is keeping us up to date on her Facebook page.
