Robbie Seybold threw three touchdowns and backup quarterback Nick DePrisco threw two as Copperas Cove shrugged off the stigma that it is only a running team with a 64-28 rout of Killeen in the District 8-5A opener for both teams Friday at Bulldawg Stadium.

Copperas Cove (3-1, 1-0) used its defense to stall Killeen and unleashed a passing offense — and receiving weapon Rashaun Gibson — to take a 23-0 lead early in the second quarter and win its 11th straight over the Roos and 32nd straight over Killeen ISD schools.

Killeen (3-1, 0-1), playing its first 5A district game since 2001, was held to just 253 total yards, mostly in the second half as the Roos tried to resurrect a win out of a loss.
