Hey Gang,

Big Q here with your Gold report for August 2nd.  It was in 1971 that Rod Stewart's album, "Every Picture Tells a Story" went Gold.  It featured the hit "Maggie May".  The Emotions hit "Best of my Love" went Gold in 1977.  Also in 1977 Supertramps Album "Crime of the Century", featuring "Dreamer" and "Bloody Well Right" was certified Gold.  Love and Rockets self titled disc, which featured "So Alive" went Gold in 1989.  But the best Gold nugget on this day comes from the Lovely Laura Branigan.  Her album "Branigan" went Gold in 1984 and featured this smash hit from 1982.

This song stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 for 36 weeks, which at the time, was a record for a female artist.  We lost Laura to a cerebral aneurysm in 2004, but we'll have "Gloria" forever.
