A Car Bomb Wounded Two Outside The French Embassy In Libya Tuesday
A car that exploded outside the French Embassy in Tripoli, Libya wounded two French guards on Tuesday.
No one has claimed responsibility, but Libyan officials suspect militant Islamist groups upset over French intervention in Mali, where French forces are working with the government to fight Islamic militants in that country's northern regions. If that is the case, the attack was likely a response to France’s Parliament voting to extend the French military presence in Mali.
Tuesday’s attack is the first major attack on a diplomatic facility since the September 11, 2012 siege of the United States diplomatic compound in Benghazi which claimed the life of Ambasador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.
