Ya know why these singing shows suck? Cos there is no way, no how that a guy who looks and sounds like Tom Petty would even get past the audition phase. They'd even kick him out of the waiting line. A guy who sings out of his nose in a weird indeterminate accent who looks like this:

Why Simon Cowell would have crossed his arms and sneered Tom off the stage, and we would have been denied forty something years of one of the most consistent, most adventurous and top selling rock acts of all damn time. In fact, they had a number one album just last year, haters.

And for that reason alone, we are crowning him and his band, the Heartbreakers, with our-
