How many times does it have to happen before people realize money accidently put into their bank account leaves a trail and they will have to give it back?

Apparently Michaela Hutchings never got the memo.  The 23 year old lives in England, she is on government assistance.   Last April she was taking money out of her account for some groceries and noticed an extra $89,000 in there!

Within 48 hours she'd spent $14,000 on designer clothes, shoes, and purses, paid off some fines, gave her mother $1,700, and moved everything left over into savings. She even got investment advice from the BANK!

Like it always does when these things happened, the mistake caught up with her.  A city council worker accidently deposited the money into Michaela's account.

She was in court last month, pleading guilty to dishonestly retaining a wrongful credit.  The maximum sentence is 10 years in prison, but Michaela gets to stay out of jail if she completes community service and pays the money back.

Michaela is is not happy about that, she is not accepting any blame for what she did,and she believes her punishment is due to prejudice against pretty people! She may appeal the sentence.

Michaela says, "I pleaded guilty but the only person guilty is the person who put the money in my account, they're punishing me because of the way I look.  If I wasn't much to look at, I reckon I'd have got a slap on the wrist."
