During these odd times, it's nice to see companies putting their employees' needs first.

According to a press release from Walmart, on April 30, the company paid approximately $180 million in cash bonuses to hourly associates. Earlier this month, full time employees of Walmart also received a $300 bonus, while part-time workers earned a $150 bonus. The last bonuses totaled 365 million company wide.

Of course, grocery stores across the nation have seen an incredible boost in sales as people stock up on supplies while sheltering in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. I think it's only fair that these essential workers see a portion of the profit being made, especially when they are putting themselves at risk of contracting the virus.

"We appreciate everything our associates are doing to serve our customers and communities. They’re truly making a difference," states Walmart Chief People Officer Donna Morris.

Next month, Walmart workers will also receive their originally scheduled quarterly bonus payout. It's a good time to be essential!
