A notable Waco landmark will soon be nothing but a mere memory.

According to KWTX, crews are beginning work to bring down the notable Owen Lane Water tower.

The water tower is located along State Highway 6 across from Providence Health Center. The tower will be replaced with a new one that will hold two million gallons and will serve all of Waco and parts of McLennan County.

The replacement is part of a ten year capital improvement plan for the city called, Building Waco. The plan includes about $300 million in water related projects.
