Sandestin, FL – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team fired the second-best round of the second day and the Cru has an eight-shot lead after the second round of the Golfweek Division III Fall Preview Sunday in Florida. The UMHB women carded a 310 to go with Sunday's 305 and the Cru's 615 total puts it eight shots ahead of 15-time defending national champion Methodist University's 317-306=623. Washington-St. Louis is in third place at 309-316=625, Centre College holds down fourth with a 325-315=640 and Illinois Wesleyan rounds out the top five with a 320-321=641. There is a 14-team field competing in the tournament, including seven of the top 14 teams in the country in the Golfstat rankings. The three-day, 54-hole event is being played on a par-72, 5,880-yard layout at the Baytowne Golf Club in Sandestin, Florida.

UMHB's Taylor O'Rear holds the individual lead after shooting a 74-75=149. She has a one-shot lead over Methodist's Loretta Giovannettone (76-74=150) and Olivia Lugar of Washington-St. Louis (75-75=150). Elizabeth Davis is in fourth place individually for the Cru after firing a 72-81=153. Kelly Gonyea is right behind Davis in fifth place with a 79-75=154, Victoria Thane is 17th after posting 80-80=160 and Sara Eckert is tied for 38th place with an 88-80=168 for UMHB.

O'Rear's two-day total of 149 matches the best 36-hole total in the history of UMHB women's golf. Holly Glover shot also 149 at the ASC Championship Tournament in the spring of 2005. The team score of 615 is the second-best 36-hole total in program history trailing only the 611 total the Cru posted at the Hardin-Simmons Classic in 2003-04.

The tournament wraps up on Tuesday with the final round. The Cru will begin teeing off at 9:00 AM in Tuesday's final round.
