Tragic Event in 1975 Spawned Hit for Gordon Lightfoot [VIDEO]

It was on this day, in 1975, that the SS Edmund Fitzgerald sank in Lake Superior during a storm.  29 people died.  Do you remember the song it spawned?

The song, of course, was "The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald", and was written and performed by Gordon Lightfoot.

The song was inspired by a Newsweek article. Gordon Lightfoot considers this song to be his best work.
