Top Ten Shower Songs
As I stepped into the shower last night, my Shower Song popped into my head. Whitney Houston, “Saving All My Love for You”. I just automatically start singing that when I step into the shower. It’s like Pavlov’s Dogs! Maybe because that is the song that always popped up first on the CD player I used to keep in the bathroom (Didn’t everybody used to keep a CD player in the bathroom?).
Anyway, my shower singing prompted a perusal of the internet to find the most popular Pop Songs to sing in the shower. I had to narrow it down cause there are lots of different lists. I like this one cause I know all the songs. Bill Lamb put it together for About.com. Is yours on the list or do you have your own?
I did not know that the band performed an acoustic version of the song to help heal after the September 11, 2011 terrorist attacks.
The Chicago White Sox used the song as an anthem on their way to the 2005 World Series championship. It figured prominently in the heavily watched final episode of The Sopranos in 2007. In 2008 Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" became the first "catalog" song to sell over two million digital copies.
I hope it wasn't about Little Caroline Kennedy. It sounds creepy that way!
"Brown Eyed Girl" is the song that launched Van Morrison's solo career.
I think I like Weird Al's version better.
As the legend goes, this song was originally written by Paul McCartney to try to cheer up a young Julian Lennon when his father John was breaking up with Cynthia. Take a sad song and make it better.
Sing it Piano Man, you have us singing along everywhere, form rowdy bars to shower stalls!
Rick Springfield says that the inspiration was the girlfriend of a friend whom he admired from afar.
I will always see Wayne and Garth rocking out to this classic in their car, but you can rock out in the shower too!
"Red Red Wine" was written and first recorded by Neil Diamond, but it is the UB40 version that has become a true sing along favorite. So what is it about? Drinking red wine to help forget a bad relationship. Duh!
