The Mary Tyler Moore Show Turns 43 Today

Today we wish Happy Birthday to sin in the city.  A show that featured a single woman in her 30's trying to be independent and survive on her own without the help of a man.  This iconic show that taught women to get out of the kitchen and into the workplace was simply known as "The Mary Tyler Moore Show".

It debuted on this day in 1970 on CBS, and it has one of the most acclaimed television programs ever produced in US television history. In fact,  TIME magazine put The Mary Tyler Moore Show on its list of "17 Shows That Changed TV" in 2007. Here's the iconic opening sequence, and one of the funniest scenes in TV history.
