Good news for SNAP recipients as the state of Texas continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier today, Governor Abbott announced that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission will provide $185 million in SNAP benefits for the month of August.

KVEO-TV reports that the 961,000 SNAP recipients here in Texas will receive extra funds on their Lone Star Card by August 15th.

According to the press release, Texas HHS Access and Eligibility Services, Deputy Executive Commissioner Wayne Salter said: “The additional SNAP benefits will help Texans purchase foods that provide nutrition to their families. Continuing these allotments is an important component of our continued response to COVID-19."

The State Of Texas has provided over a billion dollars to citizens who receive SNAP Benefits since April.

It's good to see lawmakers understand the need for food and necessities as many Texas families experience financial hardships due to the pandemic.

Governor Abbott added, “By extending this emergency SNAP funding, the State of Texas is helping to ensure families can continue to put food on the table, I remain grateful to our partners at the U.S. Department of Agriculture for their ongoing support throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Thank them later!
