When people say bullying is not a big deal, or that it's all in good fun it's because they haven't seen the outcome of such a situation. Sure, maybe not all people who are bullied are going to hurt themselves. But really, just one person hurting themselves is enough to know bullying is cold, it's mean, it's pathetic and can leave tragedy in the midst of family and friends.

Brandy Vela, an 18-year-old senior at Texas High School in Houston, shot herself on Tuesday in front of her family. She died of self-inflicted injuries.

Her family, who tried to talk her down, told officials that Brandy has been a victim of bullying for years, using her weight as a focal point. The bullying evolved into 'cyber bullying', which included the making of fake social media accounts that incessantly harassed her.

Her sister told KPRC2:

They would make dating websites of her and they would put her number and they would put her picture and lie about her age and say she is giving herself up for sex for free, to call her.

Brandy was well-liked, had many friends and was loved by her family. So any argument about bullying not being the issue, is a moot point.
