The Houston Texans looked sharp in the first half of their Monday night season opener. Leading by 11, the defense held Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints to just 3 points.

The second half was a different story. J.J. Watt and the Texans defense gave up 27 points forcing only one punt.

"That's on us, there's a lot of things that are on us. To hold them to three points in the first half and then give up 27 in the second, that's just terrible. And for our offense to give us the lead with 40 seconds left, or whatever it was, and not win the game, we'll take 100 percent of that blame, as we should."

-Watt said of his defense as reported by KSAT12.

Quarterback Deshaun Watson did all he could to give the Texans a win. Scoring and giving them a 1-point lead with just 37 seconds left.

But, then Drew Brees did what Drew Brees does. The Westlake High School grad threw three perfect passes to get the Saints in field goal range where kicker Wil Lutz nailed a 58-yard kick as time expired.

"You've got to find a way to get there, and tonight I didn't. I take that on me. We'll feel the emotions of this for 24 hours, then we'll move on to Jacksonville, but right now it does hurt."

-J.J. Watt

It's a long season and there is a lot of good to take from the loss. Like Watt said it hurts for now, but it's time to move on.
