At the end of a winding little dirt road just off Kegly Road in Temple sits a maintenance shed belonging to the Wildflower Country Club, and some of our firefighters were up early Wednesday fighting a fire there.

Temple Fire and Rescue crews were dispatched to 5112 Station Road at 5:05 AM after reports of a structure fire. Fortunately, they were able to get the fire under control by 5:49 AM, and no injuries were reported.

If you were trying to use Kegly as a shortcut around the time, you probably had quite a wait, as fire crews shut down a portion of the road for safety.

The burned building provided storage for the country club's lawn mowers and landscaping equipment. Investigators were working to determine the cause of the fire late Wednesday morning, and had not yet estimated a dollar loss.

Temple police officers, EMS, and Oncor technicians were also dispatched the scene.
