Despite a strong start and an early lead, Temple wasn't able to completely contain the Highland Park Scots, losing the UIL 5A Division I State Championship at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. This marks the second time since 2014 the Wildcats made it to the big game without a victory. The low score shows how defense-centric the game was.

Kudos to Coach  Allen and the Scots on their victory, and much respect to The Wildcats and Coach Scott Stewart for turning what was supposed to be a rebuilding year into a run for the title. Think about it: a first year head coach takes over with young players and this is the result. Not what Temple ultimately wanted but totally respectable, even remarkable.

Some folks online are kvetching about the Highland Park fans on the field. It's Jerry's World, we just live in it, and his QB grandson just won the state championship. I totally get it.

If this is supposed to be a transition year or a rebuilding year, the foundation being built is rock solid. Once the sting wears off, there will be much to reflect back upon proudly...and much to look forward to next year.

On a personal note, it has been our pleasure to bring this season of radio broadcasts. We love our community and we hope we provided the best service to the listeners.
