An announcement by Target says stores will close on Thanksgiving day to allow employees to celebrate the holiday safely with family.

Target CEO Brian Cornell wrote in a statement released released Monday, “This year more than ever, a joyful holiday will be inseparable from a safe one, and we’re continuing to adjust our plans to deliver ease, value and the joy of the season in a way that only Target can.”

Heads up: the statement hints at deals that will be available online to those who sign up for Target Circle.

Walmart just recently announced it would close for Thanksgiving due to this "unusual year".

The store first opened on Thanksgiving back in 2011 in conjunction with other retailers hoping to give them a jump-start on Black Friday and help them compete with online shopping which has become so popular.

Since the coronavirus pandemic, the store has put into action many different safety measures so shoppers can feel as safe as possible.

You have to really give it up for the frontline workers out there that have really stepped and put there on health at risk during COVID-19 and continue to do so.

I'm glad these companies recognize the dedication of there employees and are giving them Thanksgiving day off to spend with their family's they sure deserve it.
