Super 8 in Harker Heights Evacuated Tuesday Afternoon

Imagine the temperatures outside are below freezing and suddenly the sprinkler system explodes inside the hotel you are staying in.

This was the case Tuesday in Harker Heights as guests had to be evacuated out of the Super 8 Motel at 540 E. Central Texas Expressway.

Our news partners at KWTX report firefighters responded to the Super 8 around 4:30 PM  Tuesday to find the soaking wet situation.

Water was shut off to the hotel for repairs.

Temperatures will get back above the freezing mark briefly on Wednesday and firefighters are reminding all Harker Heights residents to make sure they leave their faucets dripping to avoid frozen pipes.
