According to a report from Stanford University, 42% of the labor force in America is working from home, and their contributions account for over two-thirds of U.S. economic activity right now.

With the ongoing pandemic and a number of Americans growing increasingly comfortable with working from home, I can only see that percentage going up.

It's a particularly weird time to be in the radio industry. Our DJ's are still coming into the office to broadcast live, but I know a few in some cities who have decent sound setups at home and can actually use VPN and VNC programs to do their shows from the comfort of their bed.

Hopefully they're not doing it from the comfort of their bathroom.

A recent survey commissioned by UK-based Homecure Plumbers found that many people across the pond and here in the U.S. are doing a lot of things in the bathroom that they probably shouldn't be.

The finding that stood out most to me and inspired me to write this article was that 1 in 6 people are participating in conference calls while on the porcelain throne.

Ick.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since the survey found that 92% of us take our phones into the bathroom with us. Long gone, it seems, are the days when you kept a stack of old magazines or the funny pages by the commode. Now you can take a glass rectangle in with you and have the entirely of human knowledge (and endless cat videos) at your fingertips.

Whether we're checking in to conference calls, watching YouTube, or taking a mini vacation, people are doing a lot in the bathroom these days.
