One of the first guitars used by Stevie Ray Vaughan was auctioned off in Dallas over the weekend.

The 1951 Fender was purchased at an auction in Dallas for $250,000 dollars. The new owner wishes to remain unnamed according to Heritage Auction spokesman Eric Bradley.

CBS DFW reports the guitar is significant in that it's the instrument by which Vaughan learned his craft. It was a gift from his older brother Jimbo whose name can be found engraved on the back of the Fender.

Vaughan traded the guitar away in 1971. In an interview before his death in 1989, Stevie mentioned how much he'd like to find the guitar again and get it back.
