Odd how such an American concept like classic rock, associated with working class Joe's and Sally Poolhall's, is so largely populated by folks from not America, Led Zep are British, AC/DC Australian and today's band, hailing from Ireland. Yes, it's Thin Lizzy. Funny thing is, this band was heavily influenced by Springsteen and Bob Seger. Their songs are packed with American images of street fighting punks, rocking jukeboxes, drunken dates and tragic rough and tumble romances. And cowboys. Which brings us to this song, guys from Ireland singing of campfire light, howling wolves and riding in the rodeo.

It's also one of my favorite classic rock songs. When that chorus hits, oh goodness, our car becomes a raging steed, the road our dusty trail to Mexico. It's fantastic.
