Rednecks with Paychecks Off-Road. What could possibly go wrong here?

Well, one man is dead after crashing his ATV at an event in Saint Jo which is out West of Gainesville. The four-day camping and ATV experience invites folks looking for an adventure to come enjoy a few days of trail rides and off-road mud pits.

News 10 reports a call came in around 2 a.m. Saturday to the Montague County Chief Deputy Jack Lawson. The victim was identified as Steven Fairbairn. He was in his mid-twenties. He collided head-on with another ATV and later died at Fort Worth hospital.

The accident happened on what was described as a large wide road. Fairbairn was visiting Texas from England. He was newly engaged to his fiance just two weeks ago. A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist his family.

This is the second time that a person has died in a four-wheeler crash related to the event. The first death happened in 2011 involving a 10-year-old rider. It's very sad. We feel for the people who just go to have fun and throw some mud, and for the employees who work the event. We hope they can find ways to improve the situation. This poor guy decided to ride in the middle of the night. May have not been the safest option but that is part of why people go to the event.

Mama always said nothing good happens after midnight. Even on ATV's.
