Police Investigating Shooting in Belton
There has been a rash of shootings across Central Texas in the Killeen- Temple- Belton area lately, and yet another one has occurred in Belton.
According to a news release from the City of Belton, a shooting happened at Avenue O and Loop 121 earlier this afternoon. Belton Police and Texas DPS officers were called to the scene at 2:50 PM.
Police say two men were walking down Loop 121 after being released from the Bell County Jail when they were shot.
One of them was transported to Baylor Scott & White with non-life threatening wounds and the other one refused medical attention.
The shooter or shooters reportedly fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Nissan Maxima.
The investigation was ongoing as of Tuesday evening.
News of the shooting comes after several reports of gunfire incidents in Temple last week, including a case in which a burglary resulted in two people being shot.
