Meet 24 year old James Matthews, a University of West Florida student who has gone from homeless to playing Carnegie Hall.

James has been playing piano since he was three.  When he graduated from high school he got into the music program at Florida Southern College, but could not afford to live in the dorm.  His parents, he says, were out of the picture.  So he had no place to live.

James spent more than a year and a half living in the school's 24-hour piano studio. Eventually one of his teachers found him sleeping there.   That teacher got James into the music program at the University of West Florida, where they let him live in the dorm, James will graduate next year with a music degree.

It doesn't end there, James entered the American Protégé International piano competition this year, he didn't win but he did get "honorable mention."  So on April 20th, James will perform at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Way to Go James!!!!!!!
