Phil Collins is as British as they come.  It looks as is the top of his magnificent bald head has never seen the light of day, aside from that video shoot in Australia for "Take Me Home".  So what has he done to earn the title of "Honorary Texan"?

The former Genesis singer and Rock-n-Roll Hall of Famer was in Austin today to be honored by the state for donating a "magnificent collection of artifacts" to the Alamo.  Since he began his collection in the 1990s, Collins has managed to amass a collection of Alamo artifacts numbering in the hundreds.

If the House Resolution is to be believed, Collins amassed the world's largest private collection of Alamo artifacts.  The Brit credited his love of the Alamo to the 50s TV show, "Davey Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier", he watched frequently as a kid.

The announcement of the items' return came from Collins in late 2014, and he made good on his word.  Among the many items collected was a rifle and leather pouch owned by Davy Crockett, and one of the original Bowie knives.  The Englishman worked over the course of two decades on the collection that is now housed in its original location, The Alamo.

The 84th Legislature of Texas officially declared Phil Collins an honorary Texan today, March 10th, 2015.  If they build on this by doing something about Daylight Saving Time like one East Texas politician wants to do, this may just be the most effective legislature of all time.
