Only the third documented nesting confirmation of the American Woodcock.

This past Saturday some folks did a guided bird walk. They came back with a confirmation of a nesting American Woodcock with some smooth moves.

It happened at Doeskin Ranch. The walkers were from the Friends of Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge.

You might be wondering why this is such a big deal. I know I am.

Well it turns out that when people take a bird watching walk, on occasion they will actually see something. The thing they saw this time hasn't been seen in the Edwards Plateau of Texas since 2005 on Fort Hood. Before that it was 1888. Yes, you read correctly. 1888.

If you were to walk outside your house and catch sight of something that hasn't been spotted in 14 years, you might be excited too. But if you were to walk out of your house and see something that has only been witnessed 3 time in 131 years, you just might do a cocky dance!

If you're wonder how to do the cocky dance, well, let's put some music behind it.
