A 15-year-old girl who was the subject of a statewide AMBER alert Sunday was rescued from her accused kidnapper in Beaumont Monday afternoon.

KTRK-TV reports that Irene Alejandra Nunez was kidnapped from her home Sunday around 4:30 PM Sunday. Her step-father, Kevin Mauricio Caceres, was named as a suspect when authorities issued an alert for Nunez.

According to KFDM-TV, police located Caceres' 2013 Buick Enclave in Beaumont Sunday after receiving a tip from a citizen who'd seen the AMBER alert. Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies stopped the vehicle around 1:45 PM Monday and rescued the girl. Caceres was taken into custody and charged with kidnapping.

I often see people sigh in frustration when AMBER alerts go out, dismiss then, and move on with their day. Thankfully someone out there not only paid attention to the alert, but was able to recognize the suspect's vehicle and get help for that girl. She'll be reunited with her family because of that person's actions, so major kudos to them!
