I honestly thought Maureen O'Hara would live forever. Feisty lady with the head of flaming red, she was still attending gatherings of classic movie fans and screenings   Just a year or so ago, she appeared with Robert Osborne at the annual Turner Classic Movies Festival in Hollywood.

Naturally, The Quiet Man is my favorite of all the John Wayne/O'Hara collaborations. It's sumptuous in its appearance, with John Ford behind the camera . The Emerald Isle and the flaming red made for a lovely Technicolor pair.

My other favorite is the 1963 comedy MclLntock! It's Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew imported to the old west. What an absolute delight!  A whole lotta fun to be sure.  For whatever reason, the Wayne family neglected to renew the copyright on this film sometime in the 1980s which is why you could see it on TV all the time: it doesn't cost any money to run.  The great reissue company Olive Films put out a Blu-ray of it a few years back and someone has chosen to share that on YouTube.  Instead of lifting a clip, I thought it would be cool to share the whole movie.
