KXAN is reporting that since the year began, Texas has seen 221 cases of mumps. That's the most since 1994, when the number reached 234. Since we're only 3 1/2 months into the year, we should shatter that number.

The whole state has seen cases, but health departments are centering around South Padre Island.

The CDC expects the spike in mumps cases to continue. It was reported that at the end of 2016 the nation hit a 10 year high with 5,311 cases.

Is this what happens when non vaccinated children grow up and get wasted at the beach? Tough to say, since doctors maintain that vaccines can prevent most but not all strains.
