The Mother Earth News, the end-all be-all publication about self-sufficient living, is once again hosting its Mother Earth News Fair this weekend at the Bell County Expo Center. Doors are open 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

I caught up with Andrew Perkins, the Fair’s director this week in our studios. He promised more of the same great exhibits and seminars which made last year's expo such a huge success. Fairgoers can attend more than 150 hands-on workshops covering organic gardening, food preparation and preservation, natural health, renewable energy, homesteading, small-scale livestock, green building, green transportation, and related topics. Local and national experts on sustainable and rural lifestyles will lead the sessions.

In addition, the Fair will host children’s activities, vendor and livestock demonstrations, hundreds of exhibitors, and local, organic food options. For more info, visit their website or call toll-free 1-800-234-3368.
