Oak Park Theater.  That's where I went to see Star Wars for the first time.  I actually missed the first 20 minutes.  Turns out the Force was not with me.

I had just be diagnosed with bad vision.  I had only gotten my glasses in the mail a few days before, so I wasn't used to wearing them.  My parents dropped me and my brother off at the theater and went to spend a few hours by themselves.  I was in line for about 10 minutes when I realized that I had forgotten my new specs.  I was afraid I was going to get in trouble, so I left my little brother alone and started to run home.

Looking back leaving a 7 year old alone was not a good idea.  Good thing I don't have kids.

Anyway the run back home was only about a mile away, but the door was locked and my folks were still out driving around.  By the time they came back, with Dairy Queen, I had missed the start time of the flick. So, now I've missed the beginning of the movie, I've ruined "date" time for my folks, plus I missed out on DQ.  What a crappy day.

I got my glasses and was driven back to Oak Park.  The place was packed and the only seats open were in the front row.  Star Wars is not the best movie to watch from front row.  Since I missed the beginning it took me awhile to catch up.  Good thing the movie has a high re-watch-ability factor.  I went back alone a few weeks later, when my neck stopped being sore.

Happy Star Wars Day.  Enjoy the highlights.
