What is wrong with people? Two stories popped up about dog abuse and both are just sickening.

I'll start with the story that's closest to home. Our news partners at KWTX reports that a dog was found in the front yard of a residence in Bremond. The dog was severely injured after being dragged behind a vehicle. The dog, named Chanze, was taken to the Belton Veterinary Clinic and is expected to recover. Chanze was rescued by a Long Island, New York non-profit, New York Bully Crew Animal Shelter, which is accepting donations to help cover the costs for treatment to Chanze.  A $15,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of whomever is responsible for dragging the dog.

Our second animal abuse story comes from KHOU 11 in Houston. You may have seen the video of a woman kicking and punching a dog while other people just laughed at it and recorded it. A truly gross display of inhumanity.

Houston police have arrested Jaymeshia Trenay Vigne, 20, and charged her with animal cruelty. Vigne admitted to punching and kicking the dog after he attacked her son. Vigne said the dog then jumped into the car.

The Houston SPCA found the dog on Thursday and say good Samaritan had been taking care of it.

The Houston SPCA’s Chief Veterinarian, Dr. Dev, said they've named the dog Max.

Max may be available for adoption after the criminal investigation is closed.

Dogs are supposed to be our best friends. They put a great deal of love and trust into us, and they deserve to be treated with kindness and respect like any animal. How heartless do you have to be to do things like this?
