Texas and LSU face-off in what is considered the biggest game of the week this Saturday. Texas head coach Tom Herman could have been wearing purple and gold on the sideline this weekend rather than burnt orange.

USA Today writes that Thanksgiving week of 2016 both the Tigers and Longhorns were pursuing then red hot Houston head coach Herman.

LSU had fired Les Miles in the early part of the season and had promoted defensive line coach Ed Orgeron as the interim head coach. Texas was at the end of Charlie Strong's third year with a chance at finishing the season at .500.

Both teams had their final game in Texas Thanksgiving night and would make their move the next day. LSU won big against Texas A&M on the road and gave Orgeron a 5-2 record since he took over. Texas lost to TCU resulting in Strong's third losing season.

Both teams reportedly offered Herman a deal and he, of course, chose Texas. LSU went on the promote Orgeron to permanent head coach.

Both Herman and Orgeron have been asked about the "what if" this week and both don't have much to say. They seem happy where they are.
