A sixth grader in Waco is looking to raise close to $1000, so she can play in the Halftime Sports US Basketball games set for Aug 7 thru Aug. 9.

News 10 reports, Shamiah Taylor who is 11 hope's to play in the Lakepoint Sports Champions Complex in Atlanta after making a team made up of the best-of-the-best players from Texas.

Shamiah says why she is looking for support, "I would like for people to support me because it's a big opportunity. I love basketball and my dream is to play for Baylor."

Shamiah started her basketball career and love for the game at age 4.

Shamiah has a plan to help raise the money.  A friend of the family is cooking up turkey legs for her to sell and hopefully make the money she needs to make the trip.  The turkey legs go for $12 and White has helped Samiah raise money in the past.

Shamiah seems extremely driven talented, if you want to help her out then this Friday is the day.  Shamiah and Corey will be set selling the turkey legs at 2 p.m. in the front yard located at 1212 North 66th street in Waco.

Enjoy a delicious turkey leg and help Shamiah reach her goal.  I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more about her basketball career in the future.
