“My Little Pony” is making a comeback. Not only do little girls like the brightly colored equine friends, some little boys do too.  And that is the problem. Some of those little boys are being bullied.

Michael Morones, an 11-year-old from North Carolina tried to kill himself in January,  after being constantly bullied for his love of “My Little Pony”.  He has recently awakened from a coma and appears to be making progress though doctors fear permanent brain damage.

Just last week we learned about 9 year old Grayson Bruce, also from North Carolina who just picked out a new lunch sack with a “My Little Pony” theme.  Now Grayson is being been bullied because his classmates say “My Little Pony” is for girls.

Grayson told a local TV station, “They’re taking it a little too far…punching me, pushing me down, calling me horrible names, stuff that really shouldn’t happen”. Grayson says he knows “most of the characters in the show are girls, and most of the people put it toward girls, most of the toys are girlie.” But he likes “My Little Pony” anyway.

Grayson’s Mom  said school officials blamed Grayson  rather than punishing the bullies. After Grayson refused to get out of the car to go to school, Noreen Bruce wrote on Facebook, that a school counselor told her that Grayson “should hide his lunch box in his backpack and that when you carry things like that these things happen.”  Bruce claims, “I was later contacted by the principal saying Grayson could no longer bring this lunchbox to school".

The school district issued a statement saying “Buncombe County Schools takes bullying very seriously, and we will continue to take steps to resolve this issue.”

A friend of Grayson's has set up a Facebook page tying to get the Ellen Show to take Grayson’s problem national.
